  • PRINT JOURNALISM: In short, journalism is collecting and editing of news for presentation through media. Print journalism has been one of the oldest forms of journalism. For example newspapers and magazines.

  • ELECTRONIC JOURNALISM: Introduction of electronic communication especially through broadcasting has affected the lifestyles and thoughts of masses. Communication mediums like television, radio, audio, video etc. has made possible news, entertainment, information, education related subjects reach the very far and wide places. It has to an extent sidelined other forms of communication. With the growing network of TV, satellite communication, cable services, radio stations, etc., the future of this industry seems bright.

  • BROADCAST JOURNALISM Broadcast journalism is a special domain of journalism pertaining to Radio and news collections, reporting, editing and dissemination. In a broadcast news house, there are two areas of work. One can either get into production or into the editorial team. In the editorial team, there are of course reporters and the news desk, where you have the input and output editors. The output editor assigns stories to the reporters, while the input editor receives the reports and prepares scripts for the bulletin. There may be other editorial posts as well, depending on the size of the organization.

  • RADIO BROADCASTING The Radio has regained its popularity A plethora of opportunities are available to youths in the radio broadcasting industry such as becoming a radio jockey, a sound engineer, a station engineer, a scriptwriter, and a radio producer

  • FILMS - PRODUCERS, ACTORS, MUSICIANS AND DANCERS Although, it is not all that easy to taste success in one of the most competitive and sought after fields, but definitely for someone sanguine and determined, it can be quite rewarding. There are so many different groups of people associated with the so-called big screen and one has a variety to choose from the available options from technical professions like directors, producers, soundmen, lightmen, cameramen, editors etc. to artists like actors, dancers, musicians, stuntmen etc.

  • DOCUMENTARY AND PROMOTIONAL FILMS Direction: The director is the captain of the ship; he brings his creative vision to the screen. He/ she works in close co-ordination with all the major departments and is responsible for the end product. The components of a course in direction would include the techniques of story telling through cinematography and screenplay writing, editing and casting and directing actors and managing a film unit among other things. Apart from knowing the technicalities ,other disciplines like architecture, history as well as sociology is crucial for a good film maker. Leadership and decision making qualities along with creativity are the key to success in the field of direction.

  • TELEVISION TALES AND CONTENT PRODUCTION The so-called 'idiot box' can no longer be called 'idiot'. There's lot of money being churned out. The number of channels and the diversity of programmes scripted have thrown open plethora of opportunities in the television industry. Media Partners Asia (MPA) has estimated India to become Asia's leading cable market by 2010, the largest satellite market by 2012 and the most lucrative pay television market by 2015. Television is a dynamic industry and one gets instant gratification; so it attracts youngsters but one has to work very hard in this field and cope up with stress and constantly reinvent oneself and be productive as it is growing at a fast pace.

Graduate programs in journalism and mass communication found that over 51% of graduates were employed in some aspect of the field within six months after graduation, while others pursue doctoral degrees or teaching careers. In our program, many of our M.A. graduates go on to obtain their doctoral degree and/or pursue teaching careers.
